Indrani Wijesinghe and her family resides in Gatiyamulla GN division which is a very remote area that belongs to Bulathkohupitiya AGA division. The family includes 5 members – herself, Saliya Bandara (husband), their 2 children and the grandmother. Saliya works as a mechanical assistant at Panagoda Army Camp earning an income of less than Rs.20,000. Their elder son Sasindu Dilshan got through his G.C.E (O/L) Examination in 2015 with 8A and 1C. He is presently continuing his A/L studies in the Maths Stream at St. Mary’s College in Kegalle. He has been selected by Berendina Group as a beneficiary to receive the Bright Students’ Scholarship from September 2015. The youngest son is presently studying at a nearby school. The family lives in a makeshift house made out of tin sheets at the 8 perch land that belongs to Saliya.
As a result of this small unlivable makeshift house, this family faces many threats during the rainy season from lightning and thunder. During summer, these tin sheets generate excessive heat, making it very uncomfortable to live.
Give2Lanka selected Indrani’s family as a beneficiary to receive a new house which will be built in their own land. This will be the third house to be built by Give2Lanka for needy families with children.
Build cost effective, yet practical and solid houses for beneficiaries in a relatively short span of time. These house designs are to cater the basic needs of the family / beneficiary.
The Solution: To build a small house with one bedroom and toilet which is livable.
